To provide our group expense tracking and settlement features, we collect the following types of information:
A. Personal Information
- Email Address: Required for account creation, authentication (OTP verification), and user identification.
- Name: Used to identify you within groups and to other users.
- Phone Number (Optional): If provided, this may be used for account recovery or communication.
B. Group and Financial Data
- Group Details: Names of groups you create or join and the list of participants (User IDs).
- Expense Information: Details of transactions you record, including expense titles, amounts, descriptions, dates, who paid, and who the payees are.
- Settlement Data: Calculated balances (amounts owed or owing) derived from the expense data.
C. Information You Provide About Others
- Contact Information: When you invite a new member to a group, you may enter their phone number. If the user is not yet registered, we create a temporary "Guest" profile with their phone number to facilitate the invitation and expense tracking.
D. Device and Usage Data
We may collect standard information about your mobile device (e.g., device ID, operating system) and how you interact with our app (e.g., crash logs) to improve performance and stability.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for the following specific purposes:
- Authentication: To verify your identity via Email OTP (One-Time Password) using your email address.
- Core Functionality: To allow you to create groups, add members, record expenses, and calculate shared costs.
- Real-Time Synchronization: To sync data across devices and update group members instantly when an expense is added or modified.
- Notifications: To send you alerts when you are added to a group or when a new expense is added that involves you.
- Guest Management: To maintain expense records for non-registered users invited by current members.
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to facilitate our app's functionality. These services may collect information used to identify you:
- Google Cloud Firestore: We use this NoSQL database to store all user, group, and expense data securely in the cloud.
- Firebase Authentication: Used to manage the email sign-in process and secure user sessions.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Used to deliver push notifications to your device.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Retention: We retain your personal and transaction data as long as your account is active to ensure accurate financial history for your groups.
- Guest Data: Data related to "Guest" users (phone numbers provided by inviter) is stored to maintain group balance accuracy until that user registers or the group is deleted.
- Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Note that deleting your data may affect the balance calculations of groups you were a part of.
6. Data Security
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information. We utilize industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS and secure database rules provided by Google Firebase, to protect your data. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
